Ginga Arts: Strengthening communities through the Brazilian art of Capoeira

Please join us for the 5th Annual Ginga Arts Fundraiser, with special guest speaker, Jamie Lee Curtis, and live music by Zamboomba.

Ginga Arts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that teaches underserved and at-risk youth the Afro-Brazilian art form of Capoeira in and after school. Through our programs, youth benefit from the unique lessons of Capoeira, which combines elements of dance, self-defense, acrobatics, and music.

Children in our classes learn cooperation, teamwork, and focus -- skills that translate to better school performance, create sustainable communities, produce responsible members of society and cultivate positive role models for future generations. Students also develop lifelong interest in fitness and the arts that can prevent chronic health problems such as obesity.

Ginga Arts Testimonials

"Mestre Batata of Ginga Arts has been teaching the students Capoeira for three months at our school and it is already evident how much the children are benefiting from these lessons.

In addition to providing a healthy outlet for their negative feelings, the lessons are helping the children increase their self-esteem, self-expression and creativity."
